A luxury international hotel in Hong Kong is searching for a highly skilled and experienced Director of Engineering. 

This role is pivotal in ensuring the seamless operation and maintenance of the hotel’s infrastructure, supporting the hotel’s commitment to luxury and excellence. The ideal candidate will lead a team of 20 professionals, including engineers, technicians, and specialized personnel, while reporting directly to the Hotel Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the entire engineering department, ensuring the efficient operation, maintenance, and repair of all hotel facilities.

  • Develop and implement preventative maintenance programs to ensure the longevity and efficiency of equipment and systems.

  • Manage and mentor a diverse team, including a secretary, Duty Engineers, supervisors, technicians, painters, and electricians.

  • Ensure compliance with all local regulations, codes, and safety standards.

  • Coordinate with other departments to support hotel operations and guest satisfaction.

  • Develop and manage the engineering department's budget, ensuring cost-effectiveness and resource optimization.

  • Conduct regular inspections and audits of the property to identify and address maintenance needs.
    Implement energy conservation programs and initiatives to improve sustainability.

  • Prepare and present reports on engineering activities, projects, and financial performance to the Hotel Manager.

  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and excellence within the engineering team.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Director of Engineering or similar senior engineering role in a luxury hotel or related industry.

  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a diverse team.

  • In-depth knowledge of engineering systems, maintenance practices, and regulatory compliance.

  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.

  • Strong financial acumen and experience managing budgets.

  • Fluency in English is required; proficiency in Cantonese or Mandarin is an advantage.

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, or a related field is preferred.


Preferred Background:

  • Local candidates only, with a deep understanding of the local regulations and market.

  • Experience in luxury hospitality engineering is highly desirable.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, capable of interacting with guests and colleagues at all levels.
